Still about Vintar Dam, the launch of Kayam Kayak kayaking adventure is finally happening, like I wrote in the Mabuhay Magazine October 2014 issue. A kickoff kayathlon, the first of its kind in the country, according to organizers, is set on December 27, 6 AM. (For those who are interested to join, the race is tomorrow, folks.)

Vintar Dam, in the old past, was the most visited tourist spot in Ilocos Norte. The town has set its heart to bring back its glory. With the direction towards nature and adventure, development around the Umok ni Siwawer Nature Park has started. To date, identical picnic huts to enjoy the calming view of the Bislak River have been built. Even the adjacent Governor’s Resthouse (established during the time of  the late former governor Elizabeth Marcos Keon) was renovated not too long ago.
